Educational games can be utilized in a variety of different settings. There are also a number of different games and approaches that can be used in the classroom setting. Growing up and going through school I always think of jeopardy. I had a few teachers who would create class jeopardy around whatever subject we were studying. This is still a popular game that many teachers transform into the educational setting relevant to their own curriculum.
I've used Jeopardy in my training classes, but I think it's looking dated to my students. But, under this topic, you are making me think about other newer, games (e.g., I Want to Be a Millionaire) that I may be able to base some educational experiences on. We've also just purchased some software to create online learning, so I wonder if we can create interactive games for learners. You're encouraging my creativity.
ReplyDeleteYes! Funny that you mention it because I used who wants to be a millionaire in my math class this week as a study preparation for our test. The students took turns being in the "hot seat" and my questions gradually became more difficult. They were even able to use lifelines like the game.
